One in five people still have no access to modern electricity<br \/>\n&#8211; About 2.6 billion people in the developing world face difficulties in accessing full-time electricity<br \/>\n&#8211; Three billion people depend on traditional biomass, such as wood and animal plant residues, for cooking and heating<br \/>\n&#8211; More than 1.7 billion people currently live in river basins where water consumption exceeds recharge.<br \/>\n&#8211; At present, 2.4 billion people lack access to basic sanitation services, such as toilets or latrines.<br \/>\n&#8211; More than 80% of the wastewater resulting from human activities is poured into rivers or the sea without pollutants being removed.<br \/>\n&#8211; Every day, about 1,000 children die from preventable diarrheal diseases related to water and sanitation.<br \/>\n&#8211; Hydroelectric power is the most important and most widely used renewable energy source and in 2011 represented 16% of the world&#8217;s total electricity production.<br \/>\n&#8211; Approximately 70% of the water extracted from rivers, lakes and aquifers is used for irrigation.<br \/>\n&#8211; 70% of deaths caused by natural disasters are due to floods and water-related disasters<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span><strong>Smart cities and Sustainable Housing.<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><strong>Smart cities and sustainable building.<br \/>\nSustainable Development Goal 11: Ensure that cities and human settlements are inclusive, secure, resilient and sustainable<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Half of humanity, 3500 million people, live in cities today.<br \/>\n&#8211; By 2030, almost 60% of the world&#8217;s population will live in urban areas.<br \/>\n&#8211; 95% of urban expansion in the coming decades will occur in the developing world.<br \/>\n&#8211; 828 million people live in slums and the number continues to increase.<br \/>\n&#8211; Cities occupy only 3% of the planet, but represent between 60% and 80% of energy consumption and 75% of carbon emissions.<br \/>\n&#8211; Rapid urbanization is putting pressure on the supply of fresh water, wastewater, livelihoods and public health.<br \/>\n&#8211; But the relatively high density of cities can achieve increased efficiency and technological innovation while reducing the consumption of resources and energy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span><strong>Infrastructures and Sustainable Mobility.<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><strong>Sustainable Development Objective 9: Build resilient infrastructures, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Basic infrastructure such as roads, information and communication technologies, sanitation, electricity and water remains scarce in many developing countries.<br \/>\n&#8211; 2.5 billion people lack access to basic sanitation and almost 800 million access to water, many hundreds of millions of whom live in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.<br \/>\n&#8211; Between 1 and 1.5 million people do not have access to reliable telephone services.<br \/>\n&#8211; Quality infrastructure is positively related to the achievement of social, economic and political objectives.<br \/>\n&#8211; Inadequate infrastructure leads to a lack of access to markets, jobs, information and training, creating a major barrier to doing business.<br \/>\n&#8211; Underdeveloped infrastructures limit access to health care and education.<br \/>\n&#8211; For many African countries, particularly low-income countries, infrastructure constraints affect corporate productivity by 40 per cent.<br \/>\n&#8211; The multiplier effect of the work of industrialization has a positive impact on society.
